I HAVE ADDED A NEW PAGE: WOODGATE LUXURY ARTISAN SOAP. I AM THRILLED TO COMBINE MY LOVE OF SCULPTING WITH A CHALLENGING NEW CRAFT!
I am thrilled and deeply honored to be selected for the very prestigious Crocker Kingsley National Art Competition! You may see the show and vote for your favorite piece for the People's Choice Award at www.bluelinearts.org 1/8/2021 to 2/20/2021
Georgia Ryan was born, raised and educated in Northern California. She attended Holy Names College in Oakland, CA, graduated from the University of California, San Francisco, with a Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene, and practiced that profession for 33 years in California and Arizona. She and her husband, Jim, owned and operated Ryan Signs and Graphics in Ft. Mohave, AZ, for 20 years. In 2022, they relocated to St George Utah. Throughout her life, she has been driven by the creative impulse, fascinated by the challenge of figuring out how "things" (art) are made, then adapting the newly learned techniques to her own artistic vision. She is largely self-taught with books, DVD's, the internet and shamelessly picking the brains of artists she meets at shows or anywhere else. She has taken classes in drawing, glass bead making, jewelry making (lost wax casting), kiln formed glass, ceramics, photography, egg carving, and sculpture. For the past several years she has been focused on three areas: kiln formed glass, in which she has been experimenting with a variety of techniques, some simple, some very complex, time consuming and difficult; sculptural pottery and tiles (clay); and chain maille jewelry, all very creatively rewarding. Her work is in private collections in AZ, CA, KS, NC, NJ, NV, NY, Canada and Europe.
I create because I am driven to do so. Creating is one of the necessary components of a (my) balanced life. Without it, I malfunction. And it's fun!! I am inspired by just about anything - nature, conversations, a dream I had last night. I do not seek to persuade, judge, impose a philosophy, or make any particular statement with my work, other than to say "Look what I made...I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!"
